Most Streets of Rage 4 and Streets of Rage 3 characters can use Blitz Attacks with a swing or thrust weapon equipped. Weapon durability decreases each time the player hits an opponent durability won't decrease if the player hits breakables (barrels, boxes, etc.). Each weapon has its own properties, attack power and durability. These items can be picked up and used against opponents. These are limited per level and are often found after clearing a retro stage challenge, or, in Mania+, after defeating a retro boss from the red arcade cabinet. These items grant the player a charge of Star Move, allowing the character to execute its most powerful attack. Much like recovery items, these often found on breakable barrels. In Story and Arcade Modes, accruing points allows the player to gain extra lives, while in Survival Mode, extra Star Moves.
